Desktop icons gone? Quick Windows fix (no reboot)
Sometimes Windows Explorer hangs and your desktop icons vanish.
In my case, restarting Explorer from Task Manager didn’t help.
ChatGPT, can with this one-liner—and it instantly brought my icons back without a reboot:
taskkill /f /im explorer.exe & start explorer.exe
