IBM Domino V10 Product Family Delivery Milestones
Daniel Nashed – 10 October 2018 20:20:47
I got questions from multiple customers today and there is a blog post from IBM Germany answering all of them and more. Let me translate. Here is a quick summary in English.. For German check the original post--> https://dnug.de/ibm-domino-10-die-meilensteine/
- Shipped as of today 10.10.2018:
Domino V10.0, Notes V10.0, Administrator Client, Domino Designer & IBM Traveler for Windows, Linux and AIX in English.
For Linux we get CentOS 7.4 and higher support and Domino will support REHL 7.4 / SLES 12 and higher.
- Group 1 Languages (German, French, Japanese and Chinese) will follow in the 10.1 release planned for end of 2018.
- Language versions for Group 2 and 3 will follow in 2019.
- iSeries / System i will also follow 2019 because it's a complete different platform and there is additional work to do (I recall from earlier days that they had help from a dedicated iSeries team).
The planning on IBM i-Series is to ship Domino, Traveler, Sametime, Verse on-Premises (VOP) and afterwards the Domino App Dev Pack
- The current Sametime version is 9.0.1 FP1.
- There is a roadmap for the new Sametime 10 in 2019. This includes persistent chat and multi-client chat support (you can be logged into multiple clients)
- Notes V10 customers (customers on maintenance) have mobile Sametime support included in their Notes V10 client license!
- Connections Profil- and Files-Plug-ins are updated to support V10 and you can find them on DeveloperWorks.
- IBM Verse on prem (VOP) has it's own agile roadmap. The 1.0.5 release is planned for end of October and IBM/HCL plans to ship an update very quarter.
- The Verse mobile app has ongoing improvements and will continue to ship via the app stores
- There is a beta for the Domino AppDev Packs which can be tested with Domino V10 GA --> See details here https://ibm.biz/V10AppDevPack
- The new mobile Notes Application support the iPad via native iOS app will be available in beta starting end of October!
- I have seen the app already and it works like a charm! It will be included in the Notes V10 license at no extra cost when you are on maintenance!
- The new Mac V10 client is planned for end of this year. It will have the same functionality as the Windows Notes client and will support MacOS 10.14 (Mojave).
- Both versions include Sametime 9.0.1 FP1
- Stay tuned for a beta for the Notes 10 Mac client!
Domino Applications on Cloud (DAC) Version 10 support is planned within the next 30 days. For changes in the context of this migration you should contact your DAC service team
For beta announcements and other details you should check the Destination Domino website --> https://www.ibm.com/collaboration/ibm-domino
I hope that gives you a quick summary. I had the same questions..
Beside this I am currently planning my V10 deployment. Mailfile and Notes production client is already updated.
Also my beta environment. My production Domino and Traveler Linux environment has to wait for the CentOS 7.5 update.
But I am currently already deploying the new system templates and switch my admin server to a Windows machine in the same Domain.

Do you have any info on IBM Enterprise Integrator, aka LEI?
2Daniel Nashed 10.10.2018 21:26:55 IBM Domino V10 Product Family Delivery Milestones
@Lars, I don't have any update on IEI and I am not sure who is responsible for it from the DEV side. And I am not aware of any changes.
What would you expect to be changed? It should continue to work in a Domino V10 environment.

I noticed that upon install in Windows, both Domino 10 and Notes removed the NSD service. I have not seen that documented.
Is running NSD as a service a deprecated practice?

The notes client v10 = notes 9
For end user this isn’t a new version :-(
Editor richtext is horrible as v9
When IBM deliver a modern a new notes client?

To clarify, LEI = 853. IEI = 9.x/10.x... IEI 10 will not be available until Q1 2019 so do not upgrade Domino if you have IEI installed. (LEI & IEI must match the server version to be supported.) #HCLCWPSup

for IMSMO, is it now integrated in Domino 10, or still a separate product to install
and for Verse roadmap, any news about AIX support like they did on Traveler
8ajithtpillai 12.10.2018 13:15:15 IBM Domino V10 Product Family Delivery Milestones
also ICAA 2.0
9Daniel Nashed 12.10.2018 15:32:50 IBM Domino V10 Product Family Delivery Milestones
@luc, yes you can mix!
The recommended deployment is:
- admin server first with system databases
- mail servers
- clients
- template
- you should always have the new client before you use the new mailfile template because there might be features that you need in the backend code.
- the admin server might need to process new adminp requests from newer clients or servers.
but you can keep your users at a lower version. in some cases there are new features in the templates that need new functions on the client that receives for example a calendar entry.
that isn't causing issues in most cases. Notes/Domino is pretty compatible to other versions as long you are not skipping many versions ;-)

Connections Profil- and Files-Plug-ins ... I can not find a download link on DeveloperWorks. Would you please provide me with the link?
11Oliver Regelmann 16.10.2018 7:06:14 IBM Domino V10 Product Family Delivery Milestones
CentOS hasn't made it to the official system requirements yet.
12Daniel Nashed 16.10.2018 7:57:00 IBM Domino V10 Product Family Delivery Milestones
@Stefan, I just took the information from the German blog posts and translated it to English.
sorry I haven't looked into this part on my own. That's not my focus area and there is so much other stuff going on with Notes/Domino/Traveler V10.
Did anyone find the link? Anyone, anyone? Bueller?

Warning for Ibm Traveler 10 ... I update traveler on my Ibm Domino 9.0.1 FP8 server. It was working ... But I update my Ibm Domino 9 to 10 ... then I got some crash 2 hours later with Ibm Traveler. (error nTRAVELER.EXE has stop working....fault module name travelerca.DLL) I fix the problem when I reinstall Ibm traveler 10 .
14Daniel Nashed 17.10.2018 15:41:03 IBM Domino V10 Product Family Delivery Milestones
@Oliver, there are a couple of presentations which confirm that CentOS is supported.
And I spoke with the product managers and product offering team.
You have just to make sure you use CentOS 7.4 or higher!
The glic version has changed because they are compiling with the compiler shipped with CentOS 7.4
15Patrick 18.10.2018 18:11:11 IBM Domino V10 Product Family Delivery Milestones
Regarding CentOS:
IBM published the following document
https://www-01.ibm.com/support/docview.wss?uid=ibm10735403
So you can use CentOS 7.4 and 7.5 and IBM provides Support.

Any news on any backup software that will work for 10? The dropping of support from Veritas is annoying for smaller organisations that do not use Tivoli. Would be good if they stepped back up.

Hey Daniel,
do you know anything new about the availibility of Notes/Domino 10.1 respectively Group 1 Languages (German).
Thank you!
Marco
18Daniel Nashed 11.01.2019 17:42:26 IBM Domino V10 Product Family Delivery Milestones
@Marco, the G1 languages should be out shortly.
I hope they will be available by end of next week.
There is no official statement that I am aware of.
I am personally waiting for the spell check for my Notes client ;-)

Any word on when IEI will be released? We are well past Q1.
